I want to live where the sea commands
The only dictatorship I will ever accept
Is the sea ruling over me
For it does not lie
Even if I could cry many times watching its
Profound beauty.
The feeling when a wave breaks down on you
And you almost drown because of its force is when you
Rethink who you are.
You think surfing is an easy thing,
Oh, my friend,
The ocean will teach you better.
It makes you humble indeed.
The humility us human beings desperately need
To create something solid.
The only dictatorship I will ever accept
Is the sea ruling over me
For I come from a good family
Who after years and years of poverty
- which is unfortunately still the case for so many of us -
And expulsion from their country
- my grandfather from the Czech Republic -
Have created an island for me to thrive.
And I continue to dive deep
Into the core of my soul
To make things whole again.
For I can only save myself.
The only dictatorship I will ever accept
Is the sea ruling over me
For it resembles me
If I’m willing to see and honour my power
As a human in these worlds and on this Earth.
Yet I think it is time to take another
Wave full of shower
To live a life in dignity.
